I was lucky enough to have been able to join the January ‘Anything Goes’ ATC Swap over at UKScrappers and recently received my swaps back in the post! The idea behind this swap was that you created five Artist Trading Cards which you sent to the host who then distributed five others back to you. This was my first ever swap and I was so excited when the little envelope arrived containing my swaps. They were all so gorgeous and you could tell each one had been given a lot of love and care in its creation. A huge thankyou to the girls that joined in the fun. Here is some pictures of the ATC’s I created for this swap…I hope they all arrived safely to their new homes 🙂
Firstly I started by creating a large background sheet, which was A3 in size. To create this I used lots of Art Journaling techniques such as misting, doodling, stamping, painting and imprinting……..
I then chopped this background up so that I had several rectangles of the correct size to create the base of my ATC’s….
To finish I embellished my favorite backgrounds with lace, flowers, text and altered chipboard…..
Wanna see me make this Art Journal page in super sonic speed?!!!! Well here’s your chance!
This is a video of me creating the page which I’ve added some music to and speeded up….so you can see my whole process from start to finish in under 3minutes. Hope you enjoy!!
Wow!!! What a busy, busy week!!! I have been very lucky to have been involved with working behind the scenes on some GREAT projects going on at UKScrappers. Simple Recipes, a monthly scrapbook challenge and the UKS Art Journey.
On Tuesday, the Simple Recipe I devised for the month of February was launched, which you can find here. Below, is one of my example pages for the class.
Oooh and ^^^ THAT ^^^ background paper…couple people have asked where I got it from and I am so excited
to have been asked because its mine….alllllll mine!!! Lol, that’s because it my baby….part of a collection I have designed which you should be able to buy very soon….as soon as you can I will certainly be posting more details here 🙂 Exciting times!! Gee…did I ever say how much I LOVE my job?!? Such a lucky, lucky girl.
And today, the PDF I devised on doodling has been uploaded as this weeks Art Journey 🙂 Hence the pictures of art journal pages in this post! These are one’s that I have created and used as example’s! Can’t wait to see what you guys make! Link me up to your blogs, I’d LOVE to see,
LOVED the week four challenge on UKScrappers this week, which was to….
- Use turquoise and purple
- Scrap yourself
- Use butterflies or scrap about change, growth or freedom
I was so proud of the mannequin and wings, you wouldn’t believe how happy it made me 🙂 They were originally plain brown chipboard die-cut’s from two different packs from here and for some *crazy* reason, I had the idea to put them together. But they were bugging me and I couldn’t work out why coz I really like them, yet they just weren’t right and so I decided to co-ordinate them with the page and boy, what a difference that made!!! They are amazing!!! And the wings, oh so so sparkly…..which is the BEST way to be 🙂
…and this is the layout for one little boy who searches and finds a little of that magic day in, day out.
I created this layout based on the criteria for the January Week 2 Team Challenge on UKScrappers. For this challenge, we had to ensure we used ‘Something New’, ‘Something Old’ and ‘Bling’. My ‘Something Old’ was the doilie, lace, sizzix die (heart frame), music paper, patterned paper and letter stamps. My ‘Something New’ was the technique I used to create my organza flower. Although I have admired these flowers for a long time I have never actually dug out a candle and used this technique myself…but I love the flower I created and will certainly be making many more.
I fulfilled the ‘Bling’ element by putting diamantes in the centre of the flower and by adding diamante accents to the hearts.
2012 is going to be a
good year, no wait, that’s wrong, it’s going to be a GREAT year! Its gonna be a year to make our own, to create our story, our once upon a time.
Here’s one of the first pictures I took after the strike of midnight scrapped for the week one challenge on UKScrappers. The challenge was that we had to include three elements into our layout, which were Doodling, Circles & use of Old Stash only. Here are some of the requirements in focus…
I LOVE doodling at the best of times and to have ‘permission’ to doodle on my layout was music to my ears! This doodled flourish was the beginnings of my page and I added a circular element to it by using some gorgeous diamantes. I also stamped (using my sons lego brick of all things!!!!) some circular elements to the edges of my page to help ground the floral embellishments.
I LOVE these journal cards from Webster Pages, they are all have the ‘feel good’ factor. I had them out on the table when I was trying to create this layout and I decided that the title, ‘Lets make 2012 BEAUTIFUL, our once upon a time‘ would be perfect as I really have a good feeling about this year…I am going to make it MY year. I love the ideas of incorporating butterflies into this as butterflies take flight and are free with seemingly no cares in the world….a place I’d love to be! I have a gorgeous butterfly mask from Tattered Angels, which I just love to use and I thought this would tie in well with the butterflies on the journaling card. Therefore I laid the mask down and spritz over plain white cardstock with a purple glimmer mist to create my background paper. I then found some plain chipboard butterflies which I inked with a purple stazon to co-ordinate with the other elements of the page. (*I just actually remembered I was gonna to coat some glossy accents over the butterflies to give them a perfect finish, but as in true Claire style, something has been forgotten!!!)
These butterflies, were encased in doodled circles with leading lines. Doodling a border around the white cardstock, photo and journaling cards helped finish this page perfectly along with a scrap of lace I found right at the end, tying in the color of the lettering perfectly.
