Surface Pattern Design Brief 11 – CityGirlLife

I am SO excited to be hosting the Surface Design Brief for the next two weeks for the Alumini of ABSPD Module 3! The deadline for this brief is Sunday 30th September 2012. I would love to showcase your interpretations of this brief on my blog, so if you would like to be featured, email me your designs & a little about you/your design to clairelouisesmilllie@hotmail.co.uk and I will be sure to blog them!

For this brief, I have decided to create a moodboard which you can see above. (I created this moodboard using the wonderful Polyvore.com…..soooo addictive!) It’s based on the idea of ‘CityGirlLife’. So you will see a range of images from cityscapes, bicycles, typograohy, makeup, flowers, music and so much more giving you huge range of scope in how you decide to approach this brief.

You may choose just one element of this board, such as the dominant red and black color scheme or the idea of ‘cityscape’ and explore this further or you might want to go all out, mixing and matching a bit of this and that…Right now, I’m actually thinking maybe bicycles & bows?!

It really is up to you which way you take this…there is NO right or wrong…I just want you to push your boundaries, explore places outside your comfort zone and create something uniquely YOU! It is up to you to choose whether you would want to use this design for home/interiors, stationary or fashion products. When you submit your designs, you can choose how you want to present these, as a standard pattern, a design board, a mockup or a mix…again there are no restrictions, I just want you to make your designs standout from the crowd and get noticed.

Don’t forget to email your designs (clairelouisesmillie@hotmail.co.uk) to me so that I can showcase them on my blog. Ensure your submissions measure 500px wide and are sent as a JPG or PNG….length does not matter.

I can’t wait to see what you all come up with. I am so excited I think I am going to come up with a whole collection!
